Can I mix ram, ddr2 3200 with 4200 on a powermac 2.5g quad? What will happen if I do?

Mixing ram ddr2 3200 with 4200? Good? Bad? What will be the outcome of this?

PowerMac G5, 2.5g Quad, running OS 10.5.8.

Also, with same com, the video card GeForce 7800GT, does it have problems with shutting down the com?

When I tried to burn a bluray disc it would not do it and shut me down. I had to change the processor to reduced before it would burn. Took about 48 hrs.

Hi Peter,

It's highly unlikely that it'll work with PC3200 RAM.

On the Video Card, Shutdown problem...

Get Temperature Monitor to see if it's heat related...

@ BDAqua,

Thanks, I tried the pc3200 and it is stating OK in the system profiler. It recognizes the 3200 in the correct slots, hmmm. Hope everything will be OK.

I will continue to search for a place that sells the pc4200 ram.

About the graphics card, the link you provided was OK but it wouldn't open, giving a message about volume not allowing permissions.

Regards,

Peter
