Macbook pro slow startup with a black screen

After updating to OS 10.10.3, every time i turn on my macbook it is really slow and shows a black screen for about 30 seconds until it flashes the apple logo and then shows the sign in screen. It didn't use to take this long. I thought SSD's are supposed to have a fast startup

Select Macintosh HD as the Startup Disk.
