I installed some updates 15thApril and after restart they re-appear to be install even though they are listed as in stalled on the 15th.Why?

I installed three updates on April 15th and restarted. Soon after they re-appeared as updates available and yet they are listed as having been installed on the 15th so still showing as a red 1 on the desk top against the app store icon. Why and how do I get rid of it??

You have told us just enough to get started on your story

  1. What 3 updates?
  2. What " 1 " of the 3?

If this issue is new, tell us what immediately preceded its onset - add software, upgrade or update? New equipment?

probably not installed, often the App Store disconnects and still records updates as installed

check if this is true by going to About This Mac, System Report/Software/ Installations.

and see if the updates you asked for are there.

if not it may be best to access/download them from the App Support Download pages.

Most should be there with a bit of navigation. sadly some are only available via the App Store

and may need continued 'asks'

my software recovery update took three attempts over three days
