I don't want to use the VIP mailbox, didn't set it up and don't want to see it. How can I get rid of it?

Click the disclosure triangle next to VIPs in the mailbox list so that it points down. You'll now see the list of VIP's you designated. Right-click or control-click each one that you want to remove and select
Remove from VIPs
from the popup menu.
Thank you. I appreciate your help and comment, but it won't help others to move to the next step. I have since learned that you not only have to remove the emails from this mailbox, but that, once completely empty, that you have to close Mail and restart the computer for the VIP Mailbox to go away.

Sorry! It did not help me. I have the VIP mailbox which is – and always has been – empty. Some time in the past a sub-VIP-box appeared called "oronpropp.se". Also this box is empty. I have now tried a number of ways to get rid of these two that just clutters the window, but in vain!I know
As far as I know, I do not have any VIP-marked contacts in my list.
I would be very glad if someone could help me out here.
