Upgraded iPad3 to iOS 8.3 and now App Store won't upgrade pending applications

I upgraded my iPad 3 to iOS 8.3 a few days ago. The App Store shows I have 17 upgrades pending for application. If I try to upgrade any of them, the busy wheel goes round and round (forever), but never indicates anything has been downloaded, and eventually the modem shows no data is being transmitted. How do we fix this?

Hey 6.6Re,

It may help to force close all open apps and reset your iPad.

Force an app to close in iOS

http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT5137

Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT1430

If you're still unable to successfully update your apps, the next step would be to reinstall iOS on your device by placing it in Recovery Mode, then choosing Update in iTunes.

  1. Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
  2. Put your device in recovery mode.
  3. When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn onhttps://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201412

Sincerely,

Allen

Thank you for your suggestions. However, I tried everything you suggested including updating the iPad with iTunes, and the original problem still remains. I suspect the root problem is in the App Store and/or iOS 8.3's interface to the App Store; too many other people are having similar problems with that App Store after the update. C'mon Apple, give us a solution here.

This whole update experience has made me very leery of updating my MacBook Pro to Yosemite. It's clear Apple can suggest updates that turn out to be disasters.
