Q: Apple Watch Shipping Notices

Just curious if anyone has received a shipping notice yet for their Apple Watch If they were lucky enough to get an early delivery date (24th). I know if is probably a bit early but worth asking.

thanks

SO I ordered two 10 minutes after the store opened and nothing yet. A friend ordered a sport this morning with a quote of June and he has already gotten a Monday ship date. What the heck

Thanks. I ordered the same watch. What time did you order? Does the Milanese band feel loose on your wrist?

Your friend probably ordered a very unpopular watch/band combo.

So, just spoke to Apple rep and they said, of course, the 42 mm SS BSB was very popular and as a result shipments are going to be delayed.   She didn't know how long but said it will be before 2 weeks.   So they finally admitted they don't have any 42 mm SS available and the shipping isn't following any logical progression.   The style and technology experts they hired for the Watch couldn't possibly predict this model rather than a pink banded Watch might appeal to a majority so they didn't product enough of this SKU - so in short we're all going to be waiting two weeks before seeing something we all got up in the middle of the night to preorder and a few privileged nitwits across the globe trotted into an Apple Store today and walked out with a 42 mm SS BSB Apple Watch today.

Hooray for the legions of experts emploved by Apple that couldn't foresee all this yet all preordered 42 mm SS BSB have been in their system for two full weeks.   Common sense - 0, Nitwits - 1

How much would that number be? Do you have a figure?

The operator you spoke to, was this a senior manager or a vice-president? You didn't learn anything more than was already known by everyone here, they ran out of the SS with black sport option, just like they ran out of the 44 SS with bracelet, milanese, leather, etc. Thank you Captain Obvious. An it has to be following some logical progression or the ones that have been sent out (and I do know some people who have received them) or no one would be receiving them. They also held some back to be sold in the few boutiques that are selling them, but apparently no more than 2,000. My guess is it takes longer to manufacturer the Apple Watch and the Sapphire crystal is a severe limiting factor (their plant for sapphire in the US went bankrupt).

And how do you know that the people who went into the boutiques today (and they started lining up yesterday) are "privileged nitwits"? Do you know all of them? How do you know they sold ANY with the BSB in those boutiques? They may have all been leather, bracelet and milanese.

What you are basically saying is Apple should have made enough of everything to provided everyone who pre-ordered on the 10th their watch today. Maybe they should have just said preorders will be delivered the 8th so they would have enough. Would that have made you happier? Is my friend who got hers today also a nitwit?

I wouldn't go as far as to call anyone names, except possibly the Leader of  Apple Retail.  They had SIX MONTHS of build up and they had the benefit of the Apple Store online and the app to get a sense of what people were interested in.  Honestly, I think they should have marketed and sold the bodies and bands separately so that a lot of this could have been mitigated.  I would've gladly ordered another color than black since I have every intention of turning to the aftermarket for a band anyway.  But what do I know?  I'm just a guy who is STILL seeing this wrist every time he looks at his wrist, a guy who knows that if he's gotta spend money on an overpriced piece of "fluoroelastomer", he's gonna get something that goes with just about everything...LIKE BLACK!

But I'm not a highly paid executive and former CEO of a British fashion company.

I hope AA's name isn't CNC'd into the door, because I think the position of SVP of Apple Retail is gonna be vacant again....real soon!

What makes you think that Angela got to determine the number of watches that were manufactured? In fact why would she be the one to make that determination?

How do you know that they didn't make 20,000 of them and the 30 of us in this thread are just the ones that didn't get theirs? That would be a pretty close estimate. It was known before they started that at hip date 80% would be Apple Sport, just under 20% Apple Watch and less than 1% Apple Watch Edition. So anyone would have a much better shot getting theirs on launch day. And maybe in the future they will allow mix and match but that would have added to the complexity on the first order, not made it better. And I'm not convinced that the BSB is the limiting factor, but since it was the cheapest option it was bound to go faster. But since that band also fits the Sports Watch ordering any Apple Watch with an SB was going to be going after a smaller pool. Since the bracelets can't be used with the Apple Watch Sport maybe that would have been the route to go.

I'm see my wrist too but it has a skull watch on it.

I ordered a 42 mm stainless steel sport band black immediately at midnight and one minute Pacific time.  That watch is still processing.  About five minutes after that I ordered a watch for my wife 38 mm stainless steel sport band white and it was delivered today. I called Apple support twice on the matter once  yesterday out of curiosity, and today out of much annoyance due to the fact that they charged my credit card yesterday for AppleCare yet the watch hasn't even shipped. I even went as far to write an email to Tim Cook. Apple sells its products with a lot of hype and build up. A large part of that hype is dependent on delivering their product to their fans on launch day.  Apple failed to make sure this happened. I have participated in every new Apple product launch on day one since the first iPhone and to miss out for the first time because of silly rubber band makes me really believe those in charge of this launch are missing really what is important to the fans of Apple.

So Apple just send me the watch sans rubber strap and I'll just duct tape it till my link bracelet arrives.

By black, do you mean SS Space Black or Stainless Steel with a Black Sport Band?  I've been watching here for any news of anybody with the Space Black watch.  I've heard no news at all about them.
