Q: Apple Watch Shipping Notices

Just curious if anyone has received a shipping notice yet for their Apple Watch If they were lucky enough to get an early delivery date (24th). I know if is probably a bit early but worth asking.

thanks

Apple really didn't fail to make this happen, there are people getting their Watch on launch day, just like people got the iPhone 6 Plus, etc. Some didn't. They still have until May 8th to keep their word. Why didn't you order the model with the bracelet?

Apple was delayed by one minute bringing up access so the earliest you could have ordered, using the Apple Store app, was two minutes past midnight. What time was your confirmation letter sent?

Maybe Apple was restricted in getting 42mm Sapphire crystals. Again, they use last minute ordering and they had a short time window anyway, plus their chose Sapphire plant went bankrupt.

People spending $1099 for a watch probably don't post here.

The reason its April 24-May 8th is becasue Apple knows EXACTLY when the next shipment arrives from China so by having a two week window it gives them time to import more watches.

Something weird here. The preorders start two weeks ago and they dont know what watch it was the most ordered. Bahhhhh.  I think for that is a pre order, to know what its the most wanted model. They had enough time (two weeks) to make enough products for the most wanted models pre ordered for at least the first 2 days that the preorder start. Very bad situation

And that'd be two or three more insights into what's going on with this model that I don't have right now.  Really, I'm just interested to know if anybody actually got one today or if we're all still waiting.

She is the leader of that division.  They went with fashion and image and forgot about us, the Apple Faithful.  We, who committed to ordering something new and different without even a blink.  Deggie, your rationale makes sense as well, but that isn't the path that was taken either.  If all they planned to make were 20K units then shame on them.  Even if they didn't sell out on day one, let's not forget that Mother's Day, Father's Day, and graduations are right around the corner as well as the holiday shopping season arriving before you know it.  I doubt that Apple will get caught with too much product on shelves.

AppleWatch is a success.  I just wish day 1 would've gone better for all and not just a few.

You honestly think they waited until the pre-orders and then started making watches?

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see anymore shipments until late next week

No, she is the leader of the retail division. While she probably had input into what she thought the numbers would be a completely different division determines how many of each type are made. There are too many other factors involved to have Angela make those decisions. There is a limit on how many watches Apple can make within a given time period and It differs with various models of whatever device they are making. She would have no knowledge of how many Sapphire watch crystals of 38 and 42mm can be supplied within a given time period. She has no detailed information on the cost, processes to design, make, etc. I would guess she told them she could sell as many watches as they could supply her by launch day.

Last I saw there were 30 people on the I didn't get my 42mm SS with BSB in this thread. We don't know how many Apple shipped and we don't know how many people are waiting until May 8th, which was the date range they gave when ordering. It may be that 10 times that many didn't get their watch. Which would be 300. Still a pretty close shot.

Given the Sapphire situation and the size I still say the availability of Sapphire crystals was, and is, a limiting factor on the 42mm SS watch.

To put it another way, are you going to fire the retail manager of a store selling game consoles because they couldn't get enough of them to sell to every person on launch day? They have no control how many can be made. Again, would you have been happier if they had moved launch day to May 8th and you got your watch on that day?

Yes, harry_potter above it going to go to China and wave his wand and 10 million watches will appear.

You do realize there are limits, even in China, to how many units you can produce in a given period?
