Q: Apple Watch Shipping Notices

Just curious if anyone has received a shipping notice yet for their Apple Watch If they were lucky enough to get an early delivery date (24th). I know if is probably a bit early but worth asking.

thanks

Badboyice posted something (can't find the post now, but I have the notification in my Inbox from following this thread) about compiling info for what has and hasn't been shipped. Mine hasn't yet, a 38mm Sport in SG with BSB. My order was placed at 12:13am on 4/10, confirmation email timestamped 12:16am. I haven't yet been charged, and order has been in Processing the whole time.

The moderator removed the post. I received an email saying this is a tech forum not to be used for polling

That isn't surprising. I imagine they're going to start cracking down on things here, as this *IS* a support forum, and the most active thread on it is about people who haven't yet received their product.

The suggestion could, of course, be made that they don't put character limitations on the feedback form, or that they don't directly tell anyone who gives feedback "You aren't going to receive a response", but that might make too much sense.

Either way, the taptic engine supply issue isn't the only reason for any limitations of stock. Apple shot itself in the foot on the Watch release by hyping a release date that was only actually that for a very small percentage of customers; we're nearly a week out now from release, and the vast majority of online preorders haven't received anything yet, while they had stock available to put in boutique stores in high-end markets around the world.

At this point, I'm half tempted to see if the store in West Hollywood still has any shelf stock, and have a friend in California pick one up for me, ship it to me and then cancel my preorder. My account hasn't been charged yet.

Apple has botched this particular release.

Can you email me a copy of that spreadsheet. It appears to be read only.

They did it on his due to his statement that he was doing a poll. There really are enough posts here to glean the information he needs.

How do you know what percentage of customers received their watches on the 24th? How do you know how many ordered? You are aware that the iPhone 6 sale was handled in the same manner, with a 2 week delivery range instead of a date?

You are correct that you will get no response from the Apple feedback link but Apple does have employees that read them. They don't have anyone here that does. Or you could call Customer Service and tell them.

Since the boutique in California reportedly only received 300 watches I doubt they have any left. All the boutiques in total received about 2,500.

Inference on percentage is easy when we have people reporting orders that were placed online as late as 12:06am or so who have spoken in a variety of places (including here) about receiving their Watch on 4/24.

As for the boutiques, even if there were 2,500 worldwide (which I'm assuming is an estimate, and you did say "about", so you're aware of that), that's 2,500 that did NOT go to the preorder customers, which as far as I'm concerned is inappropriate. Every single preorder should be filled before any in-store stock is available anywhere.

Both charges, for the watch and AppleCare, hit my credit card simultaneously.

No, it isn't that easy. This thread doesn't supply near enough information to make any kind of accurate analysis. You would need access to Apple's information to do so. And they aren't going to give it to you.

The boutique in London stated they received 503 watches, the one in LA said 300-some. It is a drop in the bucket.

I'm assuming you sent your feedback to Apple to tell them you think they botched this release, you said it here, and you can call them directly and tell them. At that point you can either wait for your order or you can decide Apple doesn't do things right, cancel your order and buy something else.

You neglected another option: ongoing discussion about how badly this was botched.

Isn't it so nice that you don't get to set policy for what other posters do? I think it is.
