There is a loss of reality here.
I've looked and found nothing that says if you get up in the middle of the night and order you will get yours on the 24th. All I saw was deliveries begin on April 24th. This has been the same for every online order that Apple has done. My confirmation letter was 2:05 CDT, 2 minutes before yours, and I didn't get mine until yesterday. My friend who had an order for a 38mm SS BSB had a 2:04a CDT order and got hers on the 24th. I ordered the 42mm SS BSB. I was upset. I railed about it. I cursed Apple. I wanted it on release day. I didn't get it. I then went through the 5 stages of grief and got over it. Apparently you are stuck at the anger stage.
I'm not seeing the series of mistakes except Apple didn't anticipate how popular it would be and they cannot build them fast enough to keep up with the demand. They had the same issue with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. I ordered my 6 Plus with a confirmation letter time of 2:02a CDT (no Apple Pay then which I think slowed me down...but I have no way of proving that). A friend ordered his and had a confirmation time of 2:25a CDT (he waited for the web site). I got mine on the first release day, he got his about 6 days later.
Apple has a formula of how they are sending watches out and the crowdsourced spreadsheet and this thread are not good data to judge how they are doing it. You were 120 seconds after me, how many orders did Apple take for your configuration during that time period?
This is the first product Apple has released that had so many different options and it adds to the complexity of satisfying orders. If they built 500,000 Silver Sports with white bands and only 400,000 people have ordered that so far then someone ordering that configuration today can get it quickly. If they built 300,000 Sport SG with BSB and 500,000 people ordered that one then they will have to build more and it will be a wait time.
This is the first release of the Apple Watch, I'm sure Apple is paying attention to the Feedback they have received both from the link and people chatting or calling and will make improvements for next time but they will never be able to satisfy everyone who orders and have them delivered on the first day of delivery. Microsoft can't do this with the Xbox, Sony can't do it with the Playstation, car manufacturers have a problem with new models that prove popular, etc. If you do a search here you can find the same type of thread for all models of iPhones, the iPad when it was new, or the new MacBook.
