Q: Apple Watch Shipping Notices

Just curious if anyone has received a shipping notice yet for their Apple Watch If they were lucky enough to get an early delivery date (24th). I know if is probably a bit early but worth asking.

thanks

I Would also like reiterate, as I believe others have stated, that Apple must give a public update/explanation regarding the Apple Watch rollout.  They need to explain why shipping is so delayed, (including why even the those who ordered immediately at midnight on 4/10 had to wait well past 4/24), and what the reasons are for the backlog, model by model.  Especially, if it is for any reasons other than sheer demand.  When I ordered my 42mm space gray sport watch on 4/23, I had no idea that they were so back logged, that even the first preorders were not being filled on time.  If Apple wants to maintain their customer's loyalty, they need to be up front and honest about what is going on in situations like these!

Shipping isn't delayed, the watches are being delivered within the time frame that buyers are given at checkout.

The orders are being filled, by pretty much all accounts, when they said they were going to be filled.  When you ordered your watch on 4/23, the Apple Store gave a delivery time frame.  Same for those the first preorders.  They may not be arriving as fast as people want them, but they aren't arriving later, either.  I ordered my watch on 4/10, and was given a time frame of 5/13-5/27.  UPS now has the watch, it's out for delivery, just as promised.

It would be nice if the watches were being shipped sooner, but they aren't going out later than Apple promised they would.  There's really no need for Apple to give a public update on the issue - you order the watch, you're given a delivery date, and the watch is arriving by that date.  The reason those dates are pushed out is simple - the watches are selling fast.

I'm wondering if there has been some mis-understanding regarding when you would receive your watch. I honestly am surprised at the comments that are being distributed. To me the only people who have a problem are those who's end date has been missed. If you were given a range for shipping then your order is still pending and can ship out anytime within that range exp - (5-13 to 5-27), if you haven't received it by 5-27 or the status hasn't changed to shipping by 5-27, then on 5-28 you have an issue and need to contact Apple. Until that end date you do not have a problem.

I think we have all just become used to pre-order/launch days of the past, where we were able to get (for the most part) exactly what we wanted as early as possible. The problem now is that other people have become fans of our favorite company, and so situations like scalpers arise, which were never a real issue before. I ordered the SG Sport 42 at xx:10:03 and mine just went into prep for shipment last night around 11pm EST. (It hasn't changed to shipped yet, though).

I get the frustration, but we do need to realize why this is happening. And understand that  is obviously aware of this, and for the upcoming iPhone pre-order I would almost guarantee it goes off without a hitch.

I accept some of what you are saying, but none of it explains why even the very first preorders were given a delivery date 3+ weeks after the expected 4/24 date, which then threw everything off.  It's also very obvious that Apple should have been much better prepared at launch, so that merely meeting these disappointing ship dates wouldn't be what you are asking us to be satisfied with.

I think what frustrates me is that every single preorder that i have attended, I was able to walk in and pick up my preorder. they are giving windows of shipments but it should of been available the day it released. point blank. im glad that they are shipping out but this isn't something everyone is use to with Apple

It's really easy to feel that way, but just take a step back from your obvious excitement over the product and think about the sheer logistics of filling hundreds of thousands of orders that all took place on one night.  I think that the mere fact they were able to identify and give out realistic shipping windows within those first crazy hours of ordering and haven't missed one (as far as I've seen) is a staggering achievement.  I can't say that I haven't been flipping-the-f***-out that mine hasn't shipped yet (thankfully it finally charged and will ship soon), but it really is amazing that they've been this organized.  Sure, the complete silence from Apple about it is annoying-as-****, but they haven't actually failed on any promises and seem to be getting shipping information to people as soon as they possibly can.

I agree, they have never had a launch with this many different configurations of a product. The coordination with all the mfg centers, shipping center has to be a massive undertaking. and since this has not been done before, no way to know the outcome in advance. The good news is the watches are shipping.

They weren't.  The very first pre-orders shipped on 4/24.  But you hit the nail on the head: "were given a delivery date 3+ weeks after the expected 4/24 date."  If you didn't get your order in for certain watches (not all had the same delivery dates), the delivery date was pushed back.  The explanation is easy.  The watches sold FAST.  More Apple watches sold in the first 24 hours than Android watches sold all of last year.

It's easy to say "Well, Apple should have prepared for this," but remember that this is Apple's first new product in years.  They can make projections, but any company would see these issues when selling a million units on the first day of pre-order.
