Q: Apple Watch Shipping Notices

Just curious if anyone has received a shipping notice yet for their Apple Watch If they were lucky enough to get an early delivery date (24th). I know if is probably a bit early but worth asking.

I received  my watch yesterday, ordered on 4/10 8:30 est. 42mm SS BSB. I had it setup in about 20 minutes. The way it was packaged was typical Apple, made me feel as though I had bought something special; which I have. I LOVE it, and for all of you still waiting it's worth the wait. My only problem is that no one in my friends group has one.

For the past week or so I had a pending charge from Apple Care on my CC account. Since modern buckles have started to ship I checked my account this morning hoping that my order changed to PFS. My order status is still Processing but I did notice that the pending charge from Apple Care has disappeared from my CC account. Should I be worried?

I noticed on my account (Apple pay), I had a pending charge. 5/12, it was cancelled and on the 13th was reissued. I didn't order my watch until 4/23, so I hope paypal is just authorizing Apple again, since I had an expiration of 5/23. Would have been horrible to lose my spot in line after waiting this long already. I have no change in shipping status as of 5/14, still states "June". If Paypal just extended my expiration date, on their part, I am impressed as a customer. I ordered the SS with link band. In my opinion, everything is running smoothly, and I am still patiently waiting.

    Finally disappointed.

Ok I try to be patient and understanding of delays (even if I did stay up to 3:00 am EST to place my order spent 10 minutes not able to get the apple site to load due to traffic and then finally getting my order placed at 3:13 am EST).  Hey I just so happened to order the most popular model the Space Gray with black sports band so a little delay is somewhat expected.  I think this did catch them by surprise that it was so popular (even though techies are known to love black and are usually the early adopters of new gadgets).   I was a little shocked when I had my Delivery date show May 13th to the 27th but based on how Apple has done business in the past (we miss you Steve) I figured they would be able to get things sorted out that they would under promise and over deliver and that while my date was the 13th to the 27th they would be sending things out much sooner. Hey they even took preorders to help ensure they have time to support the logistics for go live…….

Well its now 5/14/2015 and I have seen no changes, not updates, no communication from apple around the status of my watch, or to the refinement of the original delivery timeline….  I feel Apples new leadership has dropped the ball on this one big time and the people paying the price are the customers and the customer service reps who get beat up every day trying to support the customers with very little or no information to provide.  It must be hard walking in the door everyday knowing it’s going to be groundhogs day fending off the same questions for a month and not getting the support for the same leaders who made the mess but do not have to deal with the daily fall out.

So tomorrow (Friday 5/15) another week with no watch or updates.  I am sure the watch will show up at some point but it’s looking more and more to be at the backend of my date range (once again my order was place 13 min after go live).    I work for a fortune 100 company managing a Tech and CS area and I know  would be unacceptable at my company, that not having an adequate supply at go live is setting yourself up for failure especially once you condition your customer based on how you do business.  They should have known based on how they have done business in the past this would go over like a lead balloon and it’s no way to drive change management.  They picked the pre order date, they picked the go live date, they drive the communications, they could have done many things to gauge demand and then communicate the go live date and changed the entire perception and experience around this product launch. (You see things like this happen at large companies when they are not communicating well internally… the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing and part of the company is making unrealistic commitments that other parts of the company cannot meet).

Am I still a fan of Apple… Yes.  I still love the products and will continue to be a gadget guy but I hope some of the new Apple leaders have learned from this and make changes for the next round, they dropped the ball on this one and they need to get back to what made them great in the past.

    Mike,

I have preordered the same watch and an in 5/29 - 6/7 window and feel your disappointment. I was wondering if you might keep this stream updated when you receive any notices so that I might extrapolate my progress.

    Thanks

I ordered the SGS 42mm at 3:15 ET on 4/10 and have the 5/13-5/27 window. I spoke via chat with an Apple rep yesterday who assured me that the watch would be delivered within that window. It's frustrating knowing I've ordered the most popular edition and being "so far back" in the queue, but I also accept that this is a new product with a massive number of variations. As others have noted, if there was a need to correct an issue with initial batches, I would rather have the inconvenience of a delayed but functioning product rather than having to swap it out later.

I'm trying to understand why you're disappointed.

Apple gave you a delivery date of May 13th to May 27th.  Yesterday was the first day of your two week window.  This means that you'll be getting your watch, for sure, in less than two weeks.

They have not missed a deadline, and they haven't delayed your order.  They told you the delivery date before you ordered, so it's not like this is a surprise.

I'm not sure what sort of update you're expecting them to send.  Do companies who are fulfilling orders on time typically communicate updates to customers?  I've never used one that does.

Why do you think that it's looking more and more to be at the backend of your date range?  Yesterday was the first day of your two week window, and it's very possible that you could get charged today, and have the watch tomorrow.

I can't think of any companies where it would not be acceptable to take orders and fulfill those orders as promised.
