It seems to me that since Randy Ubillos left Apple our beloved company´s commitment to Pro Apps has vanished. (http://appleinsider.com/articles/15/04/23/final-cut-creator-randy-ubillos-leaves -apple-after-20-years) Ubillos was involved in the development of FinalCut, iMovie and Aperture too. He wanted to position Aperture as a tool to create stories. And that´s what Aperture really made unique. Ubillos retired. Maybe he can be reached via twitter https://twitter.com/ubillos

I think we should wait for WWDC in June and see what future holds. An eMail to Tim Cook would be an option we should consider.

Very interesting thread. I am continually amazed at how good Aperture is as a program. Nothing else quite like it.

Would love to see this released as open source by Apple although this is unlikely .

Just a thought: could we ( Aperture users around the world ) buy it from Apple who obviously have no

need for it and won't develop it. Although I've already purchased it twice I would still be prepared to stump

up some money to see Aperture continued. There must be thousands of people around who would contribute.

    Wishful thinking I know.

Still love my Aperture, I don't even care if they upgrade it or support it but I am still able to use it with the operating system . Certainly would be willing to pay  to keep it going. It can do so many things that the others can't haven't found one that can compare witth it. A lot of batch edits which I love. Drag and drop to make books in Blurb Booksmart.

Please, please!! A new Aperture "X" is needed. Photos is AWFUL, humongously awful and simple.

I tried Lightroom, Capture One, Darktable, DxO... but the workflow I can use in Aperture can't in others.

I'd pay for a new version of Aperture and I think others would do the same. Wake up, Apple!

Since Apple does not monitor this forums, you will have a much better chances of letting Apple know your feelings on this subject by posting at http://www.apple.com/feedback/aperture.html instead of here.

I am finding Darktable more and more to my liking as a serious potential Aperture replacement.

Been using this on and off for a month or so, now.

Maybe you should revisit Darktable and really try to learn and use it for more time.

I find the UI and workflow to be pretty good and a fairly smooth transition from Aperture.

I am even more surprised by how well this app is thought out and that it is being open sourced developed and offerred as free software.
