Q: how do I uninstall a partially installed yosimite OSX

I have started to install yosimite OSX and have paused as I now do not want this to be installed.  How do I stop this installation/update

Hi there.  Are you still in the downloading phase?  (What that means is; did you pause the download of Yosemite in the App Store App?)  Or, are you in the installation phase? (Where the Yosemite installer downloaded and launched its own app, separate from the App Store App?)

If in the downloading phase, you can just cancel the download or let it complete, then close the installer when it finishes the download.  It will give you the opportunity to cancel and close the installer before actually beginning the upgrade.

If in the installation phase, your last chance is when the Yosemite installer launches and asks you to select the drive to install on and to accept the license agreement.  after that, you might be able to hit cancel, but it may need to complete when you next restart the computer.

Hi Jared, sorry it has taken so long to reply.

The yosimite was in my updates section under the apps icon.  It has been sitting there for some time before I decided to hit the button.  So does this mean I am in the installation phase?  or in the download phase?
