I have an iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), are few days i have problems with my airplay monitor in combo with apple tv, no longer gives the possibility of imac duplication but only the imac extension.
I do not have this problem with my macbook air and everything works.
any suggestions?

I can't do any AirPlay Mirroring or as a 2nd screen on Apple TV.

I don't know why it just issue on my iMac.
My MacBook Air and MacBook Pro just fine for AirPlay.
Your issue is likely because you don't have the ATV setup correctly.

But I can find the AirPlay Logo from iMac and showing my Apple TV name.
If I not setup correctly, why my both MacBooks / iOS devices can AirPlay very well😐
After I selected the AirPlay from iMac, the TV just showing a "Black Screen" or nothing.
if the res of the imac is higher then the tv's which with appletv would be max 1080p then you would never be able to mirror only extend
