How do I access my audiobooks bought through itunes? It says they are no longer available and to go through ibooks. I downloaded ibooks but can't see the audiobooks. I am very illiterate when it comes to the iphone.
Where are you seeing that says that they aren't available ?
Where did you buy the audiobooks, on your phone or on your computer's iTunes ? If you bought them on your iPhone then they should have downloaded into its Music app, the iBooks app is for reading books.
Note that audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store (so they won't show in the Purchased tab in the iTunes app on your phone for re-downloading), so you may want to copy it to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases so that you can take a backup copy of it - it should copy over to the Books part of your computer's iTunes library (Audiobooks if using a Mac with OS X Mavericks+ on it).
i did an update (several months overdue) and now I can't see where it told me the audiobooks are not available and to use iBooks app. But when I go to audiobooks In my music file it will not let the audiobooks play. I bought the audiobooks from the itunew app on my iPhone.
Do the audiobooks show in the Audiobooks section in the Music app on your phone (they won't be in iBooks), and if so how do they show e.g. normal, greyed out ? And do they show in Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage (under the 'Storage' heading) > Music (if there are audiobooks stored in the Music app then there should be an Audiobooks section at the bottom of that screen listing them) ?
They do show up in the audiobooks section in the music app, but they are grey where the book cover used to show up. I went to settings, general, usage, manage storage and went to music and they are not there, only the music songs I have show up there.
Greyed out purchases can be a sign that they were bought with a different Apple ID.
I have only had one apple ID. It happened after I started using audible app to listen to books instead of itunes. Could there be a connection?
The Audible app wouldn't have changed anything. Have a look in iTunes on you computer in case it was ever transferred. Otherwise contact Apple: http://www.apple.com/contact/
I cannot get the audiobook to play through my iTunes account. All of these books were purchased through my ITunes account, and I can see them on my computer, and a couple of them in my phones storage. However, I cannot access my books. this shouldnt be so difficult
What happens when you try to play them ? On your phone, if it's on iOS 8.4, audiobooks that you've synced to it should show in the Audiobooks collector in its iBooks app ; on your computer's iTunes they should show in the Books (Audiobooks if using an up-to-date Mac) section of its library
