my apple account has my primary address but I cannot change the primary address associated with my ipod touch. Any suggestions?
Is there anything that suggests to you that you should be able to?
Not sure if you can do so NOW, but in the past you could not change the username/apple id itself, if that’s what you mean.
Perform a search for past posts about it.

Apple recommends you change your Apple ID to your current, working email address. This will not create another Apple ID, it will only change it to your working email address. See Changing the name you use for your Apple ID if you'd like more information.

You can change your Apple ID Name at My Apple ID. Click on Manage your Apple ID and sign in with your Apple ID name and password. Click Edit and enter the new information, then click Save Changes. Just to satisfy my curiosity & recollection:
Being able to change the user id is a fairly recent thing, isn’t it?
As I recall,
you couldn’t change the user name / apple id when they first came into existence, could you?
