My network connection will slow down and eventually stop on my mid 2010 iMac. I am running it wired to the modem/router but when I change to wireless, my connection will pick back up but slow down again. The issue will continue if I switch back and forth from wired to wireless. I have an iphone and ipad that are wireless on the same network and they don't seem to be affected.

Are you still on 10.6.8? If so then try resetting the modem, router and then restarting the iMac.
I'm on 10.9.5. I didn't catch the OS until I already posted. I reset the ISP modem/router and restarted the iMac to no avail. I also have an Airport Extreme. Do I unplug and plug it back in to reset? I also noticed that this situation also occurs if I change from the ISP modem network to the Airport network to the wired.
Network connection slows down then stops consistently.
