M-audio profire 610

Hi,

I am having a problem to connect profire 610 to my mac book air. I have thunderbolt and firewire cable 800 9 pin to 6pin, but my mac does not reagonize the soundcard?

Do I need some sort of adapter?

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

I'm not sure which model of MacBook Air you have, though I think MacBook air doesn't have FireWire port which is required to connect with Profire 610.
