I don't like the new Photos - I could do more editing in iPhoto.
How can I get a copy of Mavericks to install on an external HD so that I can run Mavericks and use iPhoto?
MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), 8GB SDRAM; 750GB HD
If you previously got the full Mavericks installer from the Mac App Store, log in with the same Apple ID and download it from the Purchases tab. If not, you can't.

iPhoto 9.6.1 works fine with Yosemite if you could find that app somewhere.
This solved my problem
My copy is 9.4.3. Where would I look for 9.6.1? Google?
Go back to the Purchases tab and see if you can download it from there.
If you don't want Yosemite, then you don't need/want that version of iPhoto:
