synching contacts created on iphone to gmail contacts

Hello. Here is my use case:

Phone: Iphone 5s, IOS 7.1.2.

I have gmail configured on my iphone for contacts. I use gmail as my system of record for contacts. This works great for most contact synching scenarios but I have one issue:

If I create a contact on my iphone, it will not synch back to gmail. This is a problem if I ever need to redo my gmail connection or swap phones, the iphone created contacts get lost.

Is there a way to synch these I am missing? I tried googling for a missed configuration or process but did not see anything useful for this particular issue.

Go to Google contacts on the web, add a test contact, verify that it appears on the phone

Then, add a test contact on the phone, verify that it appears on the website.

Post back with the results.

Hello. Thanks for trying to help.

New contacts appear almost immediately on iphone when entered in gmail web ui.

New contacts created on phone do not show up in gmail web ui.

Then you are entering them in the wrong account on the phone, you are probably placing them in the On My Phone account instead of the Gmail account.

Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars and check which account is set as the default (for Contacts)

my contacts works sync on both sides after I follow your setting here. but the problem now is those previous contacts that already in the phone did not sync after the setting. what could I missed out ??. please help me

I guess those contacts are in whatever account was the default before. There is an app for moving contacts between accounts. Google for

contact mover and account sync app

That might help. I have nothing to do with the authors of the app, and I haven't personally tried it, but it looks spot on.
