Safari 8.0.5 won't hide video playback controls or mouse in full screen mode

This is on the newest MacBook Pro, which is great in every other respect, however it's extremely annoying in video playback fullscreen in Safari because it simply will not hide the mouse or the video playback controls while the video is playing.

Is there any kind of work around because it's extremely annoying to have stuff superimposed on the screen over the top of the video. Please tell me there's a work around.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)
