The 27 inch iMac does not have an audio input socket. Is there any way that this can be accomplished?

Try the one you have and if no good choose from a really wide selection, the one pictured is good (Griffin iMic), stereo in, stereo out, mic or line level.
Oh, FYI, normally you would mark the solution as the solution rather than the reply to the solution, it shows up under the question and looks odd that way.
I haven't actually purchased the 27 inch yet, but I was puzzled as to how...... But thanks for your help
