OSX 10.10.3 update seems to be eating memory and causing my Macbook Air to run very hot.

Since downloading OS X 10.10.3 I have been having issues with something using up all of my available memory, even when no apps are open. It gets worse when I am running a browser - any browser - and my Macbook Air is running hotter than before the update. Any suggestions?

MacBook Air (11-inch Mid 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)
