interference with airport express

I use my airport express primarily as a bluetooth receiver for my iPad or iPhone. When it's not in use but the speakers are still powered on, I can hear a quiet channel that sounds like a radio station or something. It's not something that I'm sending to the speakers. What could be causing this and, more importantly, how can I stop it?

Phantom radio is caused by poor RF rejection in the circuit somewhere.. it is quite hard to get rid of.. usual methods are using ferrite cores around your cables.. and metal shields around devices.. this is a problem because it is hard to pick up where it is happening.. plug in a headphone to the express directly and listen for radio.. that might indicate if the issue is post the express or express and cabling before that.
