iPod touch 5th generation power problems

I've had an IPod Touch 5th Generation for 2 years now. I went to charge my iPod touch this time and I saw it charging from dead battery to flashing on/off, which happens normally until it got enough power to turn itself back on and continue charging. Left it alone and came back. Went to grab it and power it on, nothing turned on, even tried the factory reset holding the power and the home screen button down and still was getting nothing. Can anybody please help me or know what to do???

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- Try another cable

- Try on another computer

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
