I have researched a bit about battery draining fast and seeing I'm not the only one having this issue after upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.3. I'm loosing 1% of battery every 2 minutes!! Have ran Etresoft test, here are the results. Anyone could help please?:

Problem description:

Your computer is infected with Mackeeper. Mackeeper is not an Adware and the adware removal software won’t help you at all. Its a scam software developed by Zeobit. It is almost as dangerous as a virus. The more you delay the more it will corrupt your OS X forcing you to do a clean re install of OS X.

First launch the MacKeeper app in the Applications folder and then quit it. Just choose Quit from the MacKeeper application menu. When you’ve done that, drag the MacKeeper app to the trash. You’ll be prompted for your administrator’s password. Enter it and the MacKeeper app will move to the trash and a window will pop up and offer to uninstall the rest of its components. Click the Uninstall MacKeeper button.

A MacKeeper Helper folder isn’t removed as of yet . You can find it by visiting this location: youruserfolder/Library/Application Support. In side this folder is a NoticeEngine.plugin file. Go ahead and toss the MacKeeper Helper folder and this file will disappear right along with it. Empty the trash, restart your Mac, and MacKeeper will be gone.

Also, remove the CleanMyMac by Macaw software. Its another dangerous software like Mackeeper. It will clean the vital OS X files rendering your macbook completely useless forcing you to do a clean reinstall. Please follow the manufacturers method to uninstall CleanMyMac.

Turn the Dropbox feature off. Its consuming about 50% of the system resources.

Remove the Trend Micro antivirus. You don’t need one and will slow down your mac drastically.

Uninstall Google Chrome as its a resource hog instead use Safari.

Uninstall utorrent.

Uninstall Flip4Mac WMV and MACFUSE from preference pane, you don’t need them and also unistall Silverlight, you don’t need that either.

Uninstall Viber, its a resource hog. You can use it on your phone instead.

Uninstall Splashtop streamer for the remote access of mac or windows if you don’t need one.

Uninstall all of this crapware and your Mac will certainly make it a lot lot faster and will avoid battery drainage.

Hope this helps.....

Unfortunately, there is an issue with the latest Yosemite 10.10.3 update. You will have to wait until Apple comes up with a new update.

For the time being, a work around would be to operate your Macbook with around 30% brightness level to increase your battery level...... and avoid using your Macbook on battery as much as possible i.e; Always keep it connected if possible and only use it on battery if charging is not possible to avoid the high Charge Cycle Count.

Hope this helps.....

The question in my mind is, did you use the proper uninstallers for each of those apps, or just drag them to the trash? If the latter, you still have components installed that are having a negative impact on your battery life.

Keep in mind that battery life is entirely dependent on what you're doing with your machine. And your machine has quite a lot going on in the background. In addition, the fact that you had MacKeeper and CleanMyMac installed may mean that your system has been damaged by these apps. They should never be used, for a variety of reasons, and one of those is that their "cleaning" features can damage the system. (Not to mention that Macs don't need that kind of "cleaning" in the first place.)

Honestly, your system is such a mess that I would recommend erasing the hard drive and reinstalling the system and the apps you really need from scratch. Give yourself a clean slate. Then see how the battery life is doing.

Apr 18, 2015 8:43 AM in response to Madhuram

1. Check the cycle count of the battery against the rated life for your model. The battery may be due for replacement. If the power adapter is connected almost all the time, the battery may need replacing even though the cycle count is not too high.

2. Follow these instructions, or thesefor OS X 10.8 or earlier.

3. In the Energy Saver preference pane, uncheck the box marked

Enable Power Nap while on battery power

if it's shown (it may not be.)

4. You can also try resetting the SMC.

5. Make sure your system is up to date in Software Update.

6. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.

Any app like Dropbox that does periodic tasks in the background is going to have some kind of impact on the battery life. If this impact is significant, make sure you're using the most current version of Dropbox. If you already are, or if upgrading doesn't help, I'd advise talking to the makers of Dropbox about that.

[Turn the Dropbox feature off. Its consuming about 50% of the system resources.]

I had already mentioned in my first post to turn off the Dropbox feature as its eating up 50% of the system resources. Just see the above sentence from my first post. I was under the impression that you had successfully turned off the Dropbox after my suggestion.
