Corrupt excel file on Mac

Hi,

I had saved an excel workbook a few days back. This is the first time I used excel on my mac. Tried to open it but it says "some content could be unreadable". I selected "open and repair" but neither could be done because my workbook is corrupt :/ There's been no excel activity on my mac ever and the first time I use it, I face this problem. Can someone help me with this? I use excel for Mac 2011.

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)
