Q: Facebook gone from Share Menu

Since my update to OS 10.10.3, Facebook is gone from my share menu. It is also missing from the list under Share Menu in the extensions preference pane of the system preferences. I am logged into Facebook, and it also appears in my internet accounts in the system preferences, but, since it is lacking in all the share menus (of course, also with "more...") I can't share anywhere (for example, photos from Photo app).

It has worked in the past.

All other accounts (Twitter, Flickr, etc.) are there, only Facebook is missing. I also tried rebooting, re-signing in to Facebook. Now am out of ideas -- would be grateful for help.

Oddly, I don't use Facebook at all and I have the extension.

Try installing the Combo Update. It will install over the current version and may fix the missing bits.

Thanks! i tried the combo update, no luck.

Here is the list that appears under the Extensions prefpane, "Share Menu"

    Add to Reading List

    Mail

    Messages

    Airdrop

    Add to Photos

    Add to Wunderlist

    LindIn Vimeo

    Flickr

    Add to Aperture

    Twitter

    Sina Weibo

    Tencent Weibo

    Youku

    Tudou

Everything after "Add to Photos" is unchecked, since I don't have them and, to my knowledge, have never had them. It seems like the only one missing is Facebook, and I could really use it! How can it get it back?

Took a look at another login account and Facebook wasn't there, but others were also missing. Not sure how these choices get there. As you and I both mentioned, some of these we haven't even used.

    Further information:

I discovered that after logging into Facebook in another user account on my Macbook, Facebook appeared in the share menu as it should. So I figure, the system is okay, something is wrong just in my user account.

I tried replacing all of the user preferences with those from the other account. Unfortunately, after a reboot, the behavior was the same, no Facebook in the share menu or the list of extensions.

My conclusion: whatever it is, it is not the fault of the system or user preferences. What else could it be? Where do these system extensions reside?

An alternate idea: is it possible to import everything into the other user account, the one that works? Is there an easy way to do that? Overwriting duplicate data is not a problem, I don't want to merge two accounts, just get a clean start with a new one.

    Any advise would be appreciated!!!

Sign in as the original User.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.

Then go to the hard drive level Users folder. Select the logged in account, select what you want to copy, drag it to the new user and place it in their Public/Dropbox folder. Repeat as required. Log in as the new user and transfer the files from the Public folder to where they belong.

Eric, thanks for the help! But before I go to all that trouble, I was hoping there might be a simple solution – those system extensions which determine what shows up in the share menu have to be somewhere!   Does anyone have any ideas?

(By the way, can I migrate to another user account using an external drive? My hard drive is kind of full…)
