Can Tesco Hudl 2 tablet use iPhone 3GS as a bluetooth hotspot?

Hi, I have an iPhone 3GS (OS 6.1.3), I'm thinking of getting a Tesco Hudl 2 tablet and I would like to use my iPhone as a bluetooth internet hotspot. (My network phone provider allows me to use the hotspot function.) However I'm told that older iPhones don't connect to all modern bluetooth devices so I was hoping someone would let me know if they will work together as mobile internet is my primary reason for getting a tablet. (N.B. My iPhone does not have the wi-fi hotspot function.)
