open .wma in macbook air

I'm trying to open a previously recorded file from an Olympus Digital Voice Recorder with a file extension .wma on my new MacBook Air. I've been directed by apple software to download Flip Player, and yet when I try to use the appplication, I get an error message 'not a movie file.' I know it's not a movie, it's a voice recording! Very frustrated, leaving requests everywhere I can think of because I need access to these carefully retained bits of history.
