When I touch the back arrow, nothing happens. This happens when I listen to albums, artists, audiobooks, etc.

Just what back arrow do you mean? It appears you are in the Music app.
The back arrow in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. There are no others on the screen that I can see. And, yes, I'm using i-tunes. When I hit the big round button at the bottom of the unit, I'm taken to the main page/desktop and, of course, when I tap the Music icon, I'm taken right back to the album that I'm listening to. Thanks.
My ipod 4th generation won't go back to previous page.
