I recently tried the new 12" MacBook at the Apple Store and noted very poor PDF scrolling and re-sizing. It was very choppy for even basic scientific journal articles without many bitmaps or vector graphic images. Has anyone else experienced this? I was able to reproduce it on several machines. The MacBook Airs and Pros each were generally fast and even faster with transparency off.

Preview.app appears to be significantly improved on El Capitan on my MacBook air 11 inch 2014 edition. I will have to check out the 12 inch MacBook performance now.
I've recently tried PDFexpert and this app appears to use a different PDF rendering engine that is much faster.
Indeed. I tried PDFExpert and it is much smoother!
A shame that for a simple thing as smooth PDF-viewing we need to buy an app...
I just bought the 2016 Core m5 version of the MacBook and the performance is way better than what I was seeing in the store on the m3 version. I'm not sure if some of the performance issues were due to the MacOS installation images at the Apple store or the faster processor in this machine. I'm still using PDF Expert, but overall I've been very happy with the performance of the 2016 Core m5 in this machine.
