Macbook Pro retina HDMI to tv lagging

hi

i purchased a mac retina earlier this week. with my previous hp laptop i could connect the hdmi from the tv to the laptop to watch the game and had no problems. however with the mac when i connect it to the tv the match stream starts to buffer and lag on the tv.. the picture stops for a few seconds but the sound continues. as i soon as i disconnect the Hdmi from the mac the stream is absolutely fine and works without any lag. the problem is not my wifi as i am the only one connected and the signal is good.. I've tried using a different browser but still the same..

any ideas? thanks
