4MOT/4/40000003-HDD-1313

My desk top computer is taking a long time to start up. I ran a hard drive test and got this error code, 4MOT/4/40000003-HDD-1313 in the extended test. My first two regular testes came up with the same code but had the endings -HDD-1329 and -HDD-1317. Now I just need to figure our what that means.

I bleieve the problem started when I did a clean up on my mac. I deleted most of the stuff in my start up folder found in the library, and now I can not find that folder anywhere.

Any help would be great. Thank you

Got the same model as your's (Mid 2011 27" iMac). I had a similar issue with my hard drive in late 2012. My error message code at that time was 4MOT/4/40000003: HDD-1304. I took it to the Apple Store and they confirmed it was the HDD and replaced it for free, even though I was out of warranty. I think there was some replacement program at that time for faulty Seagate HDDs for some of those 2011 iMacs. I just googled and found some articles talking about such replacement program (e.g. http://www.macworld.com/article/2012134/apple-quietly-extends-1tb-imac-seagate-r eplacement-program.html). I don't know if they're still doing that.

Do check with Apple Support or a local store, if you are near one. They may be able to tell you easily.
