what operating system can I update to with a mid 2007 mac mini core 2 duo

I have a mac mini core 2 duo mid 2007 machine. I've upgraded it from Leopard, to Snow Leopard,

and now to Lion. I added 4 gig of memory. Can I upgrade to Maverick so at least I'll get periodic

security updates. I'm to poor to buy a new machine.

Is it possible to change the processor to a new one? or its it non upgradeable and planed obsolescent

like the new macs.

If I can't I'm thinking of wiping the OS and installing some Linux OS that still gets security

updates and some support.

The computer works great otherwise. No spinning beach balls or other nonsense.

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7.5), 4 gig core 2 duo intel box

Unfortunately, you are at the end of the line. That Model of Mac Mini cannot go any higher than OS X Lion 10.7.x.

As to its planned obsolescence, seriously? its an 8 year old machine. At some point, obsolescence is just that, there's nothing planned about it. It just happens.

Software requires more resources as it does more things.

I doubt Steve said, this computer we are releasing today will be un-update-able in 8 years.
