Yosemite upgrade and iPhoto 8.1.2

I recently upgraded to Yosemite without realizing the implications to my very old version of iPhoto. After reading up on the issue and what to do I realized the backup I did before upgrading did not go through. I am at a loss as to what to do because I am without a backup for safety. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

iPhoto: 8.1.2

Yosemite: 10.10.2

I do have another Macbook in the house with iPhoto 9.6.1 if that is any help
