garage band

I hooked up my UX2 audio interface with Garage Band 10.0.3. Up until now I had been using it successfully with Garage Band on an old Macbook. I am able to record fine from my keyboard but when I try to record audio with my mic all I hear in my headset is static. I have downloaded all the updated drivers and patches for the UX2. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
