Slow photos sync with icloud

Why do you think even a few photos do not immediately sync between my iphine and MBP. passwords and wifi set up have all been checked.

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

Photos backup and iCloud upload is of no quality (shame for Apple).

1. I bought extra storage in iCloud

2. Did not sync claiming that my photo library needs "Consolidation". Which does not mean anything (cannot be performed).

3. Meanwhile the forced upload attempt blocked my whole home network.

4. I went to Dropbox. It runs smoothly and works fine. So far.

I have a similar problem. I've seen it take close to a day for photos from my iPhone to sync to the iCloud. If the product is not usable, why release it? It's been out long enough now that any "bugs" should be fixed.
