trouble shooting a reinstall of lion on imac from recovery hd

Trying to go a reinstall of Lion after performing a disk verification and repair. In RED it noted that: This volume of Macintosh HD was found corrupt and needs repair. The system says: try again later when performing the HD reinstalation, after six attempts in restore mode!
