One last desperate question
I have almost given up as none of the remedies have worked for me. If I reinstall the first version of Yosemite, or even go back to Mavericks, will this give me iPhoto back?
iMac 21 inch Intel core duo, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

You state that you have OS X 10.6.2 - Is this correct?
As to "getting iPhoto back" - no OS install will give you iPhoto - it is a separate installation and without details all one can say is to reinstall from the original source
If you want help you need to provide details and context including version of iphoto that you have, problem that you have, what you want to accomplish, what exact things you have tried and the results (none of the remedies have worked gives us absolutely nothing to work with)
