What is a good portable external hdd to use with a mac?

I want something that is reliable and straight forward to use (e.g. just plug in and save/retrieve files as required - similar to a usb). Any suggestions?

I use the OWC, http://www.macsales.com Mercury Elite Pro external drives but they may seem large to use as portable drives.

My daughter has a very small 2 TB Western Digital My Passport for Mac that she has been using for a lot of travel and works great.
