I just backed up my iPad and iPhone onto my Mac. I was able to go onto Photos and see my pictures from my iPad, but after I backed up my iPhone my pictures from there are nowhere to be found. Help?

What kind of backup did you make?
Backing up the device to iTunes will not show the photos in Photos, only connecting the iPhone by USB and importing the photos or transferring them by Photo Stream or iCloud Photo Library will add them to your Photos Library.

I plugged in my iPad and was able to import the pictures with the Photos app. When I unplugged my iPad and plugged in my iPhone the import button in Photos disappeared....
UPDATE:
I had to quit and open and quit and open the Photos app a few times before it would recognize that my iPhone was plugged in. Thanks 🙂

That should not happen. Restarting once should suffice. Next time try to open "File > Import" in Photos, and wait, if your iPhone will appear in the Import panel.
