Issues connecting to my car

I recently replaced my ageing iPod nano with the latest generation and after 3 weeks of it connecting to my car absolutely fine, it now will no longer play through the car. I connect it via a designated USB port in my car and have had no issues previously until now. I hadn't even disconnected the iPod between it working fine one minute and the next not, so I can't see how it might be an update issue.

The iPod does recognise that it's been connected to my car as it starts charging but the car says that no device is connected. I have tried changing the lightening cable and also seeing if it'll work in other cars, all with the same issue so by process of elimination it's definitely the iPod.

Anyone have any ideas?
