i REALLY want to make the "now playing" tile that pops up when you are in other windows go away for good.
Can anyone please suggest a fix?

You can turn off Notifications for iTunes in iTunes Preferences (under the iTunes menu) > General > deselect Notifications When song changes checkbox. See this article for reference -
