iPad is semi-dead

So I let my friends play with my iPad for sometime, and after a while they suddenly point out that it seems to have crashed, the upper row with the time and battery percent are showing but everything else does not respond, the color of the screen is a light black/dark grey. Its a second generation iPad. And I have not updated to the latest OS

iPad 2, iOS 8.2

Try a device reset:

Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)

1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.

2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.

3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
