Reducing Aperture: iPhoto duplication

When using unified library is there any way of NOT seeing every Aperture "project" (aka iPhoto event) in a long column headed EVENTS 2 sections below iPhoto's Events folder in LIBRARY? At the moment my Aperture "projects" are identical to iPhoto's "events"

Presumably when I get into using Aperture more I will be grateful for this set up... will I?
