iMessages are missing on new iPod

Question

I recently got a new iPod (mine had been stolen).

I logged in and opened the iMessage app, and my recent conversations are missing (the newest available one is from March 23).

Is there a way to get those messages back, or should I just ask whoever sent them to send them again?

It is an iPod touch 5, and is running on iOS 8.3.

No, They are just stored on Apple servers for a short period of time.

However, Messages from the Apple Messages app are included in the iPod backup. Try restoring from backup if they would be in a backup

I Already did a backup, and those weren't recovered.
