Q: iCloud & Photos not matching

I probably did not convert from Aperture to Photos in the correct manner, but after 3 weekends of work I have finally got the 9,000 or so photos in Photos on my iMac organized as I want.  However, I notice now that my iPad mini and iCloud have a completely different structure with albums set up in a completely different way and some that I deleted altogether on my iMac.

I suspect this is something to do with my Mini where I see these errant albums etc.  Is there some way to "force" iCloud and my Mini to look like my iMac?

Not everything is syncing from a Mac to iCloud. See this list:

Use Photos and iCloud Photo Library on multiple Mac computers - Apple Support

These items are available only on the Mac where you created them:

    • Books, cards, and calendars
    • Slideshows
    • Keyword shortcuts
    • Unused keywords
    • Last imported album (this album contains photos you most recently imported on a specific Mac)
    • Faces tiles and Faces data

If you are seeing photos on a Mac, that do not sync to iCloud, it may be caused by referenced photos. That will not sync. Also, a Photos library an a drive, that is not formatted MacOs Extended (Journaled) will not sync at all with iCloud.

    Thanks Leonie,

But it is not any of those items and I have no referenced photos.  Also my Photos Library is on my system disk.  I "think" what has happened is that when I first moved from Aperture to Photos and up to iCloud, I also added the Mini as well to iCloud.  Then when I saw what a horrid mess my Photos Library had made of my Aperture Library and had duplicated a lot of photos, I went through my Photos Library on my Mac for 3 weekends and reorganized it the way I wanted.  So while all my photos are in every place, the Albums I deleted on my Mac still remain in the iCloud Photos and on my Mini.

I am not sure why this is the case and if you have an easy solution or explanation I would much appreciate it.  My only solution that I have been able to come up with, is to back up my Mac Photo Library, disable and delete the iCloud Photos, disable and delete the Mini Photos and start the whole process again.  Time consuming and frustrating!

I really hope there are many more upgrades and add-ons to come to Photos to bring me back to the level of Aperture with CS5 addon.

I am having basically the same issue. Except, that my library imported just fine from iPhoto and everything looks great on my MacBook Pro and on my iPhone6, everything looks good and the albums match. However on my iPad Air, nothing matches. It only has 2 of the album I created and organized on my Mac and I can't figure out how to correct this!
