I am writing my bachelor thesis with pages. I am wondering whether there is a way to add a Heading to the Header/Footer area of the document that you have always a fast glance where you are. That there stands not only the page number also Heading I.

Just type what you want into the Header or the Footer.
It will repeat for the whole Section.

thanks for your help. This is not exactly what I mean.
In Word you have the possibility to add automatically the Heading 1 of the certain Page to the Header or Footer. For Instance: Introduction, Theoretical Background, Methods, Results and so forth. Is there such a way in Pages as well?

Hi Sid,
A page header or footer will repeat on every page of a Section. Insert Section Breaks to create "Chapters" within your thesis.
Then Edit the page Header/Footer for each Section (sorry, not automatic from Heading 1 of that page😉).

Since you can simply copy paste or option drag the text, exactly how much time does that save you?
Especially since Heading 1 is not necessarily your Section Head.
