Received this pop up (below) and called. They stated they work for Apple and that they needed access to my laptop to help me. Anyone else experience this?
27" cinema display-OTHER, Mac OS X (10.7)
It is a scam. Did you allow them access to your computer!
this is internet phishing. Close chrome immediately, do not call that number and perhaps consider not visiting that webpage again. As a precaution clear your cache in the following way...
Safari > Preferences > Advanced > Show Develop Tab (you may remove this after)
Develop > Empty Caches
Be careful out there, the internet is a dangerous beast
Like a moron, I did. They convinced me they were with Apple
If you gave them access to your MBP, erase the HDD and reinstall the OSX and restore your data from your backup.
Ciao.
You allowed criminals to access your Mac, and now they have a gateway they can do that whenever they want.
Erase the Mac, and change all credit card numbers, account login passwords and other private (not any more) information.
Never let scam artists login to your Mac.
